Mr. Sonenshine is responsible for the development of the Group’s business. He is the architect driving the establishment of a Peer to Peer lending platform in Central Europe, under the SymCredit and SymVest brands. He also leads the investment committee for the Symfonie Angel Venture Fund, the Symfonie Lending Fund.
Mr. Sonenshine is the founding partner of the Symfonie Capital, LLC and the Investment Principal primarily responsible for managing credit products focusing on Global High Yield markets both in Western Europe and Eastern Europe. Before founding Symfonie Mr. Sonenshine was Investment Principal at MT Thaler Investment Management. He was responsible for selection of investments in credit instruments, both performing as well as distressed. Prior to joining MT Thaler Mr. Sonenshine held senior credit research positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and ING Bank. He was ranked among the top analysts in Institutional Investor, EuroMoney and Credit Magazine. Prior to his work as a high yield analyst Mr. Sonenshine was General Manager of ING Investment Management, Czech Republic. Under Mr. Sonenshine’s leadership, ING Investment Management managed approximately US$250 mn and launched three Luxembourg domiciled, Czech Koruna denominated investment funds. These funds were the first of their kind in the Czech market and outperformed their benchmarks. Prior to working for ING investment management, Mr. Sonenshine was senior Equity analyst at ING Barings focused on Russia and Central Europe. Sonenshine earned his CFA designation in 1999. He holds an MBA from the William E. Simon School at the University of Rochester, where he specialised in Finance and Public Policy. He also holds a B.A. in History from Tufts University.
Ewa Chronowska is a partner at Symfonie Capital, LLC and is responsible for business development in Poland. She is a member of the Investment Committee for the Symfonie Angel Venture Fund and she manages the establishment of the SymCredit platform in Poland.
Ms. Chronowska has ten years of professional experience in corporate finance, financial and strategic consulting, business development and capital transactions. Prior to joining Symfonie she was co-founder and CEO at Capital Ventures, advising and providing financial and business support to start-up, early stage and SME companies. She was also CEO at Grasp Capital, which provided consulting and seed capital finance to Polish companies. Ms. Chronowska has extensive media experience, having been as editor-in-chief of Polish economic monthly Home&Market. Ms. Chronowska holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and Accounting from the Warsaw School of Economics.
Mr. McGregor is responsible for the development of operations at Symfonie P2P.
Mr McGregor has over twenty years of banking operations experience. Prior to joining Symfonie, Mr McGregor was Chief Operations Officer on assignment at Banco Nacional de Guinea Ecuatorial, where he oversaw the implementation of banking and risk management IT systems, policies and procedures. Prior to that he served as Chief Operating Officer at MT Thaler Investment Management, where he organized reporting and management information systems for a hedge fund with operations in Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to that he spent the previous fourteen years with ING, providing operations and project management to ING installations in Central Europe and Monaco. Among his projects, he set up the bank in Monaco to offer Wealth Management, and managed the project to centralise the Central European wholesale banking operations. Prior to that, he was head of Private Banking for the Geneva branch of ABN AMRO, where he set up systems to improve customer focus and facilitate introduction of new products.
He has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and a D.Phil in Computer Science from Oxford University, England.
Ms. Rombova is a member of the Symfonie Angel Fund investment committee and oversees the finance functions for Symfonie’s peer to peer lending and investment platform, SymCredit.
Ms. Rombova has more has more than 20 years professional experience in managerial finance and business development. She is a Partner in CQK Invest which provides financial and business support to innovative startup companies. Her professional experience also includes 10 years in senior management positions in HBO Europe, where she was ultimately promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Rombova holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of Pittsburgh, and a Diploma from the University of Chemical Technology, Prague.
Mr. Alexa oversees the development of IT systems for Symfonie’s peer to peer lending and investment platform, SymCredit.
Mr. Alexa has 15 years of experience developing, testing and implementing database software solutions. Most recently he was sales director for Oracle Corporation where he was responsible for communication systems projects in Central and Eastern Europe . Prior to working at Oracle Mr. Alexa held senior level engineering positions at Sitronics, one of the largest high-tech companies in Eastern Europe. Mr. Alexa was chief architect and director of R&D for telecommunications solutions for delivery to tier one companies such as MTS, T-Mobile and Vodafone. Mr. Alexa began his career providing software solutions to the TV and Media industry. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of Economics (Faculty of Informatics & Statistics) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics and Statistics.
Ms. Stanikova is responsible for development of Symfonie Group’s communications strategy. She is a key point of contact not only for journalists, but also for potential business partners.
Ms. Stanikova has more than ten years of experience in journalism and communications. Ms. Stanikova was a frequent contributer to news webportal idnes.cz. Her career includes producing and reporting for broadcaster such as Czech Radio, FTV Prima. She also worked for U-Turn Media Group, one of the first providers of mobile news in the world. She works with Helgi Library, a start-up company providing economists around the world with statistics and data. Ms. Stanikova has strong committment the role of journalists in recording and preserving a last record of historical events. She works on production projects for Post Bellum non-profit organisation documenting witness accounts of world wide political and wartime events during the twentieth century. She holds a Master Degree of Journalism and Media communication from Charles University, Prague.
